After a review of the current situation in the beach neighborhoods of Praia Grande, Santos, Sao Vicente and Guaruja, the U.S. Consulate General in Sao Paulo has retracted the recommendation against employee travel to those areas and hereby rescinds the recommendation against general travel to those areas.  We take this opportunity to remind American citizens resident in or visiting Brazil to take common sense precautions when traveling.  For detailed information on safety and security or crime issues, please refer to our Country Specific Information on Brazil, which can be found here:
