Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders

Holders of Diplomatic or Official Passports who are Federal Govenment employees, and/or members of International Organizations traveling on an official mission (visa types A-1, A-2, C-2, C-3, G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4) do not need to schedule an appointment.  Anyone can present the required documents at the Consulate/Embassy:

  • Form DS-160 confirmation page;
  • Valid passport;
  • One 5x5cm or 5x7cm photograph with a white background, taken within the last six months. Both ears should be visible;
  • Diplomatic note from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) or the appropriate embassy or international organization.

They do not need to pay the visa application fee.

Holders of valid diplomatic passports who are using these passports to request a visa in another visa category (tourism, student, etc.) do not need to schedule an appointment or present a diplomatic note, but must come to the embassy or consulate to submit their documents, have their fingerprints taken, and have an interview with a consular officer. Holders os official passports qualify for the same process but they will have to pay the MRV fee at the consulate cashier.

Please check the Contact Information and Working Hours page for information on the submission hours at the Embassy and each consulate.

Note: The US Mission in Brazil has special programs to facilitate the renewal of certain classes of visas. For additional information access the Renewal of Visa page
